80th Anniversary Japan-Canada Relations
80 Years Partnership Across the Pacific
- Miles Apart, Minds Together -

In January 1928, Japan and Canada agreed to establish diplomatic relations, and Japan opened a Legation in Ottawa on July 20 of the same year. In 2008, Japan and Canada are celebrating 80 years of diplomatic relations that has steadily developed till today. In celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relationship between Japan and Canada, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Japan in Canada and four Consulates General of Japan in Canada have intention to further strengthen the tie and mutual understanding.

Logo:
Designed by Japanese artist Mr. Mitsugu Kikuchi, who lives in Ottawa, the logo represents the Canadian and Japanese flags with the maple leaf which changes colors over the seasons. The logo will be used in projects and events celebrating the 80th anniversary.
