Happy 60th Anniversary of the Thai-Laotian Relationship
Currently, Thailand and Lao PDR enjoy a smooth and close relationship which is based on respect for each other and mutual interest. The contributing factor to this is the close connection in race, religion, language and culture. The Thai royal family has played a significant role in promoting the close tie between Thais and Laotians, making it possible for both countries to continue to coorperate and discuss matters and when problems do occur to look for peaceful solutions.
On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Thailand-Lao PDR Diplomatic Relations, Thailand Post has issued postage stamps depicting the national symbols of Thailand and Lao PDR--"Thai and Laotian ladies in their national attire" greeting each other with a wai and the national flowers--the golden shower for Thailand and the Lao Champak for Lao PDR.
