สมเด็จพระเจ้าภคินีเธอ เจ้าฟ้าเพชรรัตนราชสุดา สิริโสภาพัณณวดี ได้เสด็จประทับรักษาพระอาการติดเชื้อในกระแสพระโลหิต ณ ตึก 84 ปี ชั้น 5 ด้านตะวันออก โรงพยาบาลศิริราชตั้งแต่วันที่ 13 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2554 แม้คณะแพทย์ได้ถวายการรักษาอย่างใกล้ชิดจนสุดความสามารถ พระอาการประชวรได้ทรุดลงตามลำดับ และสิ้นพระชนม์เมื่อเวลา 16 นาฬิกา 37 นาที วันที่ 27 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2554 รวมพระชันษา 85 ปี

Royal family performs bathing rites for late Princess Bejaratana
BANGKOK, July 28 - The members of the Thai royal family on Thursday performed the bathing rite for the late Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda at the Grand Palace's Phiman Rattaya Hall in the capital.
Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit presided at the palace over the bathing rite in the hall.
Senior civil servants and state officials also participated in the ceremony, while the public were permitted to perform their bathing rites before the princess' portrait at the Grand Palace's Sahathai Samakom Pavilion on Thursday from 1-4pm.
